Caption Generator — Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn & X
Three caption variants written for the platform you pick — TikTok's 150-character brevity, Instagram's 125-character fold, LinkedIn's see-more hook — with tone, emoji-density and hashtag controls. Full output on free runs.
Why one caption doesn't fit every platform
Cross-posting the same caption everywhere is the most common small-business social habit, and every platform quietly punishes it. Instagram truncates at ~125 characters and expects hashtags; TikTok buries captions over ~150 characters under the video and reads hashtag-stuffed text as spam; LinkedIn gives you ~210 characters before “…see more” and rewards substance after the fold; X hard-stops at 280 with hashtags counted; Facebook shows nearly 480 characters but engages best under 80. Same message, five different shapes — that's what the platform selector changes here, not just the label.
Worked example — topic “We just added Saturday appointments at our dental clinic in Tulsa”: the Instagram variant leads with the hook inside the fold (“Saturdays are open! 🦷 No more choosing between work and your checkup”) and carries 6-8 hashtags; the TikTok variant compresses to “POV: your dentist finally opened Saturdays 🦷 #tulsa #dentist”; the LinkedIn variant opens with the scheduling-pain observation professionals recognize, then the announcement. All three came from the same input — the platform rules did the differentiating.
Two controls worth using deliberately: emoji density is a brand-voice decision (a law firm and a smoothie bar should not decorate alike), and the hashtag toggle exists because hashtags help discovery on Instagram and TikTok, do little on Facebook, and actively cost reach past 1-2 on X. The generator never invents prices or offers you didn't state — and you should still read before you post; it's your name on the account.
Frequently asked questions
How long should an Instagram caption be?
The first ~125 characters must carry the hook — that's all the feed shows before “…more”. Total length matters less: short punchy captions and 300-word micro-stories both work IF the fold-visible part earns the tap.
What makes a TikTok caption different?
Brevity and native voice. The caption supports the video, it doesn't replace it — under 150 characters, conversational, 3-5 hashtags max. Long earnest captions read as out-of-place on TikTok in a way they don't on Instagram.
How many hashtags should I use?
Platform-dependent: Instagram 5-10 mixed-size tags, TikTok 3-5, LinkedIn 1-3, X 0-2, Facebook 0-2. The generator applies these defaults per platform when the hashtag toggle is on.
Can I use the same caption on Instagram and Facebook?
They're the closest pair, but still not identical: strip most hashtags for Facebook, and remember Instagram forbids links in captions while Facebook thrives on them. Generate for Instagram, then run the Facebook variant — it takes one more click.
Will AI captions sound generic?
A blank-prompt caption tool only knows what you type in the topic box — the more specific your input (real service, real detail, real place), the less generic the output. This is exactly the problem the full AlwaysOn product solves by reading your website, reviews and results before writing anything.
How many free captions do I get?
5 runs a day without an account, 20 with a free account, unlimited on paid plans — three full variants every run, never a blurred teaser.
